NBA rumors: Monty Williams on Chris Paul's injured shoulder: No change

More on Chris Paul Injury

Duane Rankin: "Playoff basketball." Chris Paul when asked if this series vs. #Lakers is just playoff basketball or more than that with the chippy play, back and forth. As for his right shoulder injury: "I'll be ready for the game tonight." #Suns #NBAPlayoffs
Duane Rankin: "We had a long talk." Monty Williams looked to sit Chris Paul for Game 4 after seeing him laboring with shoulder injury. Oh hell no. "I said if ya'll feel like I'm out here looking like some trash, just tell me and I'll get out. Paul played, produced and #Suns evened series. pic.twitter.com/r30S7xTc6o
Gerald Bourguet: Chris Paul said he was told the only way they can treat his shoulder by resting, so he was grateful they gave him the opportunity to test it out and give the Suns what he had
"I'm probably not the guy to talk to about cruel stuff. I know what cruel is, so it's just basketball," Williams said, alluding to a car accident that killed his wife, Ingrid, in 2016. "I know how bad he wants to win, but at the end of the day, when we get paid to do what we do, you got a beautiful wife and children with a Hall of Fame career. "He's handled these things well, and I don't doubt that Chris will come through this stronger and better. But what we're going through now is not the worst thing in the world. Now, as it relates to his career and legacy, it is hard, and I get that. To be where he is and how he's played for us, and not be able to play at the highest level, that's hard. But Chris is mentally strong -- he'll be able to handle it and help us the right way."
Gerald Bourguet: Chris Paul said he didn't re-injure his shoulder in the 4th quarter. "I got kneed in the nuts." He's not making excuses. "It's the playoffs, everybody's a little banged up."
Paul, who suffered a right shoulder contusion in the second quarter of the Suns' Game 1 win, wasn't on the injury report Tuesday but played with a thin wrap around much of the shoulder. He played 23 minutes, including just seven minutes in the second half, when he had one point and two assists. "I took him out, that was all me," Williams said. "Just looking at him holding his arm the way he was holding it, I just couldn't watch him run like that, trying to make plays. He battled. He's a warrior, we all know that. I just made a decision to take him out."
"He's not able to make the passes he wants. He was laboring tonight," Williams said. "I don't want to get into too many details until I talk to him about it, but you can see he wasn't even running the way he ran and dribbled the ball this morning. We're hopeful it'll get better over the next 48 hours."
Duane Rankin: Jae Crowder said Chris Paul (shoulder) is doing everything he can "behind the scenes" with treatment to be ready for Game 2 tonight. Paul isn't on the injury report as he suffered a stinger in the first half of Game 1 against the #Lakers. #Suns
Gerald Bourguet: No Chris Paul on the Suns' injury report for Game 2. LeBron James (right ankle) and Anthony Davis (right shoulder) are once again listed as probable
Paul will do all he can to get his body ready for Game 2. He might watch more Kobe Bryant videos. “I’ll be all right. I’ll be all right,” Paul said. “I just kept thinking to myself, ‘Get through the game.’ I got a great team around me, people that help me work on my body and stuff like that all the time, as well as the Suns organization. So, I’ll be all right.”
Gerald Bourguet: Monty Williams on Chris Paul: "I don't know the particulars of what happened, I just know that he was sore." Said he talked to him just now and CP3 said he's okay and will be okay going forward.
Duane Rankin: Chris Paul is down. It's gotten quiet for sure. LeBron scored on an offensive putback and Paul went down. "M-V-P" chants starting up. He's been down for a minute. #Suns #Lakers.

He says the only regret he’s ever had in his basketball life is that he wishes he’d taken rehab more seriously after his first major injury, a meniscus tear in 2010. “But as far as the way I play? No. If anybody doesn’t like the way I play, I don’t care. I don’t care. I play that way, and if you don’t like it then …” He trails off, then shrugs. “If I’m not on your team, then don’t pick me. Don’t play with me. That’s all there is to it.”
Tim MacMahon: Mike D'Antoni confirms that Chris Paul will return tonight against the Magic after missing 17 games due to a strained left hamstring. Paul will start, and Austin Rivers will come off the Houston bench.

Paul Garcia: Coach D’Antoni said Chris Paul will play tonight.
Jonathan Feigen: Expect Chris Paul to return tonight, Nene tomorrow for Rockets. D'Antoni availability in about 25 minutes to be sure.

"It sucks because you know you could win this series if we just had one more playmaker," Gordon said after the Rockets' 101-92 loss Monday night in Game 7. "If we had Chris, if he was out there, we'd have been playing on Thursday. It's just tough."
Manu Ginobili: Feel bad that a player like CP couldn't be part of game 6 and 7. Awesome competitor and difference maker for HOU. Same for Iguodala but he's been there many times...
Ramona Shelburne: Chris Paul's hamstring injury is a Grade 2 strain, per multiple sources. For reference that's the same injury that cost James Harden almost three weeks back in January. As one source put it, "We tried everything. It's just not humanly possible."
