NBA rumors: Sixers to sign Rayjon Tucker

Shams Charania: The Philadelphia 76ers are planning to sign swingman Rayjon Tucker to a two-way contract, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Tucker is expected to join the 76ers‘ G League affiliate (Delaware Blue Coats) in the Orlando bubble.

After waiving Rayjon Tucker early Saturday afternoon, the Cavs have 14 NBA players under contract. Lamar Stevens and Matt Mooney are both on two-way deals. The Cavs have also agreed to Exhibit 10 contracts with 2019 undrafted swingman Charles Matthews and Canton Charge center Marques Bolden.
In the hour before the Heat defeated Utah 107-104 at AmericanAirlines Arena, the Jazz traded point guard Dante Exum to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Jordan Clarkson. In the moments following that defeat, the Jazz waived forward Jeff Green, sources told The Athletic. And in the moments following that, the Jazz signed shooting guard Rayjon Tucker to a guaranteed deal for the remainder of the season. The flurry of moves can be traced to one constant, according to league sources: The Jazz have not been happy with their bench play.
Tucker's deal is guaranteed for the rest of this season, sources said. Several teams were in pursuit of Tucker in the wake of his G League season and a recent terrific performance at the G League Winter Showcase in Las Vegas. "Utah is getting a fantastic young man with a great work ethic and passion for the game," Herd coach Chase Buford told ESPN. "Rayjon is an elite athlete who competes at a ridiculously high level every night. He's a human highlight reel and a very exciting prospect for now and the future."
Tony Jones: Rayjon Tucker's deal is fully guaranteed for the remainder of the season, and partially guaranteed next season, per league sources.
Ian Begley: The Brooklyn Nets were among the teams that expressed strong interest in signing Rayjon Tucker, per SNY sources. Brooklyn, presumably, would have added Tucker via a Disabled Player Exception created in the wake of David Nwaba’s season-ending surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles.
Ian Begley: Correction: as @NetsDaily notes, Nets would have had to waive someone to add Rayjon Tucker. Or they could have signed him if granted a hardship waiver, which can be applied for later this month, per @BobbyMarks42. The Disabled Player Exception doesn’t create a roster spot.
Rayjon Tucker, an athletic 6-5 guard, auditioned for the Heat during three days last week, according to a league source. The Heat was interested in signing Tucker to an Exhibit 10 contract, which comes with a $50,000 guarantee and a training camp invitation. But Tucker’s preference is to sign a two-way contract, and the Heat did not immediately offer one.

Vasilije Micic staying in Europe?

Ergin Ataman: “Like Messi’s transfer to France, like Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to different teams. We are doing everything we can to prevent this from happening. Our relations with Larkin as a club are very good. I think he likes the club and Istanbul very much, but ultimately the decision will be made by the player himself. As for Vasilije Micic’s situation, I think his contract has an NBA exit until July 20. Micic can’t play for any other club in Europe for 3 years, we signed the contract last season. He might consider it if he gets a big offer from the NBA. I think Micic enjoyed playing in Europe. The time will tell. Frankly, I think Micic will continue with us. I think he will be with us next season as well. There is not much we can do about it. I mean, he has a very good contract, but if there is a big offer from the NBA, we will try to fill his place. We want to continue with both players.”

Ergin Ataman was a guest on Turkish television and, among other things, he talked about whether Shane Larkin and Vasilije Micic will continue with the team, the potential addition of Will Clyburn, as well as if this Efes squad could be considered the best in Euroleague history. “Shane Larkin is very happy here. Larkin reached the peak of his career in Anadolu Efes, becoming one of the 2 to 3 best players in Europe, sometimes even the best. He broke the record in Europe. Won two championships in a row. The family atmosphere in Anadolu Efes must have affected him as well, but after all, he is a professional. Of course, there are serious offers for him. After all, free agents in Europe are clear today. Of course, we really want Larkin to continue with us. Let’s hope this will work out in a positive way, but if it doesn’t, there may be some flash transfers as a result,” he said and compared it to stellar transfers in soccer.
