The Milwaukee Bucks have requested waivers on forward Jon Horford and guard Charlie Westbrook, General Manager John Hammond announced today. Horford saw six minutes of action in last night’s preseason game at Chicago, while Westbrook posted four points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal in nine minutes. Both were signed by the Bucks as free agents on Sept. 18. The Bucks roster now stands at 18 players.
The Detroit Pistons announced today that the club has requested waivers on forward Eric Griffin. He was signed to the training camp roster on September 28 and played for the Texas Legends of the NBA’s Developmental League last season. In 49 games, he averaged 19.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.4 blocks in 35.2 minutes. The Orlando native played collegiately at Campbell University and went undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft.
The Memphis Grizzlies today announced the team has signed free agent forward/center Alex Stepheson. Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed. Stepheson (6-10, 270) has played professionally in Greece, Slovenia and Turkey since finishing his collegiate career at the University of Southern California. The 28-year-old averaged 12.3 points and a league-leading 9.2 rebounds in 26.8 minutes while shooting 56.3 percent from the field, in 29 games (21 starts) last season for Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediyesi. Unselected in the 2011 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles native also made three appearances for the Dallas Mavericks during the 2015 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. The Grizzlies’ roster stands at 20 players.
The Memphis Grizzlies today announced the team has waived center Michael Holyfield. Holyfield (6-11, 270) signed with Memphis as a free agent on Sept. 28 and played eight minutes in the Grizzlies’ preseason opener last night against the Houston Rockets. Unselected in the 2015 NBA Draft following a four-year collegiate career at Sam Houston State University, the 22-year-old Albuquerque, N.M. native appeared in five games for Memphis during the 2015 Orlando Pro Summer League. The Grizzlies’ roster stands at 19 players.
The Indiana Pacers announced Wednesday they have signed free agent Kadeem Jack. Jack is a 6-9, 235 lb. forward that played collegiately at Rutgers. The Pacers training camp roster now stands at 18.

Carter (6-8, 220) joins the Grizzlies after playing professionally last season in Slovakia, Portugal and the Dominican Republic. Undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft, the 25-year-old averaged 7.1 points and 4.2 rebounds in 21.8 minutes in 135 games (88 starts) over five seasons (2009-14) at the University of Massachusetts. The Cavaliers have signed center Michael Dunigan, the team revealed on its training camp roster, one that also officially confirmed earlier reports of deals with Jared Cunningham, Austin Daye, Chris Johnson, Nick Minnerath and D.J. Stephens. Quinn Cook also appears on the roster, so it looks like he and the team have worked out a deal, as expected. Cleveland has 20 players, 13 of whom have fully guaranteed contracts, though those totals don’t include Tristan Thompson, who remains in restricted free agency with Thursday looming as the final day for him to sign his qualifying offer before it expires. The Cavs would have to waive a player before signing Thompson, since they’re at the preseason roster limit.

The Golden State Warriors have signed free agent guards Ian Clark and Juwan Staten along with free agent forwards Tony Mitchell and Jarell Eddie to contracts, the team announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not released. Clark, 24, holds career NBA averages of 2.4 points and 6.9 minutes in 53 games over two seasons with the Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets. Prior to signing with Utah in 2013-14, Clark spent the 2013 NBA Summer League with the Warriors, earning MVP honors in the championship game to help Golden State complete a perfect 7-0 campaign in Las Vegas. The 6’3” guard is the all-time leader in points (1,920) and three-point field goals (340) at Belmont University, where he was named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Player of the Year as a senior in 2012-13.
The Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club has signed center Earl Barron, forward DeQuan Jones (duh-QUAN) and guard Edgar Sosa it was announced today by President of Basketball Operations/Head Coach Mike Budenholzer. Per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

The L.A. Clippers announced today the team has signed free agent forward Luc Mbah a Moute and forward/center Nikoloz Tskitishvili. A seven-year NBA veteran, Mbah a Moute has appeared in 466 career regular season games (301 starts) with Milwaukee, Sacramento, Minnesota and Philadelphia averaging 6.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 24.3 minutes. Born in Yaounde, Cameroon, the 29-year-old spent last season with the 76ers, averaging 9.9 points and 4.9 rebounds in 28.6 minutes of play over 67 games (61 starts). Mbah a Moute played three seasons at UCLA, where he helped the Bruins reach three straight Final Fours. He was the 37th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Bucks.

The New Orleans Pelicans announced today the team has signed free agents Jeff Adrien, Chris Douglas-Roberts and Corey Webster. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed. Jeff Adrien, 6-7, 245, appeared in 17 games last season for the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he averaged 3.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 12.6 minutes per game before signing with the Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association. In China, Adrien appeared in 11 games, averaging 13.6 points on .551 shooting from the field, 11.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game. Prior to his stint in Minnesota, Adrien was a member of the Houston Rockets’ preseason roster.

As the Washington Mystics wrapped up practice Thursday morning at Verizon Center ahead of their Game 1 playoff matchup in New York, a group of rather tall men entered the practice court. The Washington Wizards don't begin training camp until later this month, but many of the players are already working out together. Bradley Beal and Otto Porter were part of the group getting their conditioning game on. Roster mainstay Garrett Temple, rookie Kelly Oubre Jr., newcomers Gary Neal and Alan Anderson were on hand. Also part of the 10 or so players, training camp invitees Toure Murry and Josh Harrellson.
The Golden State Warriors have yet to waive former Celtic Chris Babb, who was acquired in the Gerald Wallace deal, and they plan to invite the swingman to training camp for an opportunity to make the team. The Celtics liked Babb’s effort and he also played a key role for their NBADL team in Maine. The Warriors also have an NBADL affiliate in Santa Cruz, Calif.
John Lucas III isn't the only new point guard working out with the Heat at AA Arena in recent days. Veteran point guard Tre Kelley also has been training with the Heat, according to a league source, and is a candidate for Miami's 20th and final roster spot for training camp. Kelley, 30, went undrafted out of South Carolina in 2007 and has played in eight countries (including Italy last season) and the D-League but has never appeared in a regular-season NBA game.

Although things could change in the next couple of weeks, a source with knowledge of the situation informed me that the Sixers do not expect Jordan McRae to be with the team for upcoming training camp. McRae, who was the 58th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, was offered the required tender in the form of a non-guaranteed, one-year minimum deal by the Sixers last week, which allows the team to keep his rights for the season if he again signs overseas. He has yet to accept the offer.
The Pacers will be getting another up-close look at 6-foot-8 forward CJ Fair. The team and Fair have agreed to a non-guaranteed deal for training camp, according to multiple reports.

In need of some big bodies, the Wizards have signed a couple centers, Josh Harrellson and Jaleel Roberts, to non-guaranteed contracts with invitations to training camp, which is slated to begin at Towson University on Sept. 29. Despite the lack of centers, both players are long shots to make the Wizards roster because it is already at the 15-man limit and the team plans to utilize more small-ball lineups this season.
Charlotte Hornets General Manager Rich Cho announced today that the team has signed forward Sam Thompson and center Jason Washburn to its training camp roster. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not released. The training camp roster now stands at 18. As a senior at Ohio State last season, Thompson, a 6-7 forward, averaged career highs of 10.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Over his four-year career at Ohio State, he appeared in 146 games (83 starts), averaging 6.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 22.9 minutes per game. Thompson went undrafted in the 2015 NBA Draft.

Breakers and Tall Blacks shooting guard Corey Webster is one step closer to his dream of playing in the NBA. Webster has had his stay at the New Orleans Pelicans extended to take in the upcoming official pre-season training camp, which runs from September 29 to October 2. As such he has been signed to a three-year non-guaranteed contract by the organisation. "I am not there yet but this is another positive step towards my dream of playing in the NBA," Webster said from New Orleans. "The past week has gone well and the coaches have been impressed enough by the workouts to want me to stay for the training camp.

Undrafted in 2014, Kilpatrick played in four games with the Minnesota Timberwolves last season and averaged 5.5 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists. Kilpatrick spent most of the 2014-15 season playing in the NBA Development League with the San Cruz Warriors and Delaware 87ers.

The word in Spanish basketball circles, as reiterated to me Friday, is that Marc Gasol is most likely to play for Girona if he decides to play on, even though the LEB Oro is one level below Spain’s top tier. I’m told he has been working out with new Cavaliers guard Ricky Rubio to stay sharp even after negotiating his release earlier this week from Memphis following the Grizzlies’ recent trade with the Lakers to take on the final year of Gasol’s last NBA contract.
Ballots for the NBA’s 75th anniversary team were due back to the league office today. The league previously announced that the official list of its 75 greatest players, as selected by “a blue-ribbon panel of media, current and former players, coaches, general managers and team executives,” will be revealed in October. The voters will also be revealed — not their full individual ballots but the names of those who made the selections.
