Manu Ginobili will be joined by two fellow Argentines in training camp with the Spurs adding 23-year-old swingman Patricio Garino and 26-year-old guard Nicolas Laprovittola. The latter, who played with Lietuvos Rytas of Lithuania and Estudiantes of Spain last season, recently discussed how this opportunity with San Antonio came to be with https://t.co/k09yah3O3U.
"During the Olympic Games, I was under the impression I could have a tryout in the NBA," Laprovittola said. "After Rio, I got away a bit but the chance with the Spurs came up. It was perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I took it even if it involved putting European options on the side, but I wanted to take advantage of it. I have nothing guaranteed, I come for a tryout but that's what I decided and I'm looking forward to it."
"We only saw Popovich the first day I went to a shootarund with (Patricio Garino). Everything is new and surprising. I'm getting acquainted with this new world and want to know everything about it because I want to stay."
"Along with (Patricio Garino), we want to make the best out of the preseason and the exhibition games. It's a good moment to get on the same page with the team. That's important in San Antonio, showing what you can do within the team and not just individually. This is only a tryout for me and then we'll see what happens, I may get something here or return to Europe. I feel good, I'm convinced this is what I want and I'm going to give it a try. If they invited me, it's because there's something they want to take a look at."
