Dark Day for the Dores. I didn't appreciate/understand as a player but now as an alum, thank you to all the great players that came before and played and kept the streak alive. We're forever connected by it and it was an honor to be a part of it. #RIPTheStreak
Lauri Markkanen played the entire 4th. So did Chandler Hutchison, at a new position to boot. How did the Bulls storm back to beat Cleveland? Here’s how: nbcsports.com/chicago/bulls/…
LaVine always belonged in the All-Star conversation but I thought crowded reserve field/Bulls' record might have him on outside looking in.
He's making it very difficult for coaches to ignore his candidacy though. He's on big-time roll, carrying Bulls' offense nightly.
Kris Dunn on Bulls' 4th-quarter defense: "We switched a little bit, changed it up on them. I love what the coaches did, gave them a different look."
Reporter: "How did it feel to play the whole 4th quarter?"
Markkanen: "I had no problem with that."
From Bulls PR postgame notes: LaVine is the first Bull to make 19 FGs in a game since Scottie Pippen also had 19 on Feb. 18, 1997.
LaVine also is first Bull since MJ to shoot 60% with 30 FGAs. LaVine finished 19-for-31 (61.3%).
Zach LaVine was "Herculean'' in scoring 42 points in the comeback win on Saturday, but if this rebuild is to work the Bulls need Lauri Markkanen to also do what he did. Now, if they could only sell him on that.
That’s a damn pretty Zach LaVine shot chart on the right. A handful of lethal midrange, a few threes sprinkled in, and attack the rim. Matches his skill set perfectly. Analytics that!! pic.twitter.com/YxPPK7figt
Jim Boylen credits Shaq Harrison for helping kickstart comeback.
LaVine with 21-4th quarter points. He finished with 42
Bulls win ..Bulls win Bulls win...118-116. LaVine with 42---Cavs 14-4th quarter points--Cavs 10-4th quarter turnovers
#Bulls trailed by as many as 19 and by 15 heading into 4thQ, rallied to win 118-116.
LaVine scored 21 of his 42 pts in 4thQ. Love finished with 29, Sexton 26.
Markkanen 33 minutes. 14 shots. Progress.
Love with the potential game-winner over Hutchison ... of course he missed. There's a reason he hid in Minnesota all those years collecting stats and losses.
Bulls win a wild one.
Bulls rally from 19-point, 3rd-quarter deficit and 15-point deficit to begin 4th to beat Cavs 118-116.
LaVine scored 21 of his 42 in the 4th.
Not sure if that was Hutchison's defense or Love just biffed it. Hit the side of the backboard from 10 feet.
Now #Bulls turnover gives Cavs a chance down by 1, 8.6 left.
Why did Boylen use timeout there? If Bulls had inbounded after Osman 3, Cavs would have had to foul. After timeout, Kornet inbounds pass sails through LaVine's hands for brutal TO. Cavs with a chance to win.
LaVine has 42 points and only two threes. See, it can be done!
That was a nice play by Cavs out of that timeout. Osman sinks a 3. Bulls out of timeouts with 11.4 seconds left.
LaVine 1st 3 quarters: 21 points
LaVine 4th quarter: 21 points
LaVine with 22 pts in the 4th--Cavs 11 pts..Bulls by 4 with 16.5 sec left Cavs ball..LaVine is putting on an All Star worthy performance
LaVine 42 points, and they have needed every single one of them as they close out the win over the Cavs.
LaVine has 42 points, 21 in 4thQ; 19-31 FGs #Bulls
With 42 points tonight, Zach LaVine has scored at least 40 points for the third time this season and the seventh time in his career. His reverse layup and ensuing free throw gives the Bulls a 117-113 lead over the Cavs with 16.5 seconds left.
That was unusual. #Bulls kept 2 players in backcourt, so basically created a 3-on-3, LaVine drove to the rim for basket and foul; 3-pt play puts Bulls up 117-113 with 16.5 left.
Zach LaVine has his 3rd 40-point game of season.
So now it's #Bulls ball with a 114-113 lead and 20.1 left. Bulls still have one timeout left after the challenge.
Bulls 114-113...Bulls ball 20 sec left-Cavs will go for a steal if not-quick foul
Overturned. Bulls one-point lead with 20 seconds left. No free throw for Kevin Love to miss in the clutch.
Boylen wins the challenge.
Love would have gone to line with chance for 3-pt play to tie game with 20.1 left.
Boylen is going to challenge the foul on Lauri, but I'd say no chance it's overturned. #Bulls
Jimbo will challenge that Markkanen foul, but will the touch in the back be overturned? Oh, the intrigue.
Wow. Markkanen called for touch foul from behind as Love dunks. Love going to line with chance to tie with 20.1 seconds left.
Bulls have 33 points off Cavs' 25 TOs.
Zach LaVine is going off....everyone at the UC knows he's getting the rock..the Cavs cannot stop him.
Cavs 109-108...LaVine with 37-5-3-4 steals...4:13 left 4th.
Cavs are shooting FTs rest of way with 4:13 left and haven't committed foul yet this quarter.
Zach LaVine is going off on the Cavs, with 16 (and counting) of his 37 points coming in the fourth quarter. The Bulls have come back from a 19-point deficit and lead 108-107 with 4:13 left in Chicago. #LeaguePassAlert
Looks like Boylen's going to ride a small lineup with Hutchison at PF. But Cavs are attacking Sato and now he has 5 fouls.
Garland's tough and-one ends Bulls' 16-2 run.
Markkanen at 5. Hutch at 4. LaVine at 3.
They called LaVine's last basket a 2, but might be overturned. #Bulls within 104-102 for now.
Zach LaVine has his 14th 30-point game of season.
Is Boylen gonna ride Markkanen and LaVine entire 4th?
That would be good development.
Bulls within 6. Cavs led by 19 with 1:14 left in the 3rd. Cleveland with 22 turnovers leading to 26 Bulls points.
Spirit is oozing all over the United Center floor right now. Cavs 19-point lead is now down to six.
#Bulls open 4thQ with an 11-2 run to pull within 6. Cavs send Sexton back in.
