D-backs manager Torey Lovullo reached out to Monty Williams, Rick Tocchet and Kliff Kingsbury to compare notes on how they are returning.
Here's what Lovullo and Williams had to say about their conversation: arizonasports.com/story/2321288/…
"He does a little bit of court work, but for the most part, he's on the side rehabbing and trying to get himself in tip-top (shape). He's in good shape, but he's not in the type of game shape that he wants to be in."
Jevon Carter said the NBA is allowing them to use the court later on at night if they'd like. Players coordinate with staff and such to get that worked out. In no surprise, Carter said he's going back to his room for a quick nap after practice then he will be back tonight.
Monty Williams said during today’s media availability that Kelly Oubre Jr. (meniscus) is able to do a little on-court work, but spends most of practice off to the side rehabbing. #Suns
Given Monty Williams’ time in New Orleans, I wasn’t surprised that he said he hoped to catch some bass while on the Disney campus. I was surprised to hear Deandre Ayton is also interested in said activity 🎣 #Suns
DA said he's interested in fishing (!) when it comes to some of the other activities that will be available at the bubble.
DA said he's fine being by himself and the people he cares about (his team) so the bubble isn't a big deal. Focused to getting back on the NBA grind.
DA said this reminds him of AAU. You can hear the other court next to you during practice.
Hey look who it is pic.twitter.com/htzCCQ1Db2
I asked Monty if there are any other basketball-related injury updates and he said the team's health right now is "solid" and that was that.

Monty Williams said Kelly Oubre Jr. has been doing a "little bit" of on-the-court work but most of his work is on the side rehabbing. Described him as looking great.
The Joe Johnson show 🤣
wait Schneebly was on Survivor what
Monty Williams and other bubble inhabitants now have to rely on the NBA to keep them safe from the coronavirus after for the most part controlling their own environments the past few months.
More on ways they are doing it and how coach is settling in: arizonasports.com/story/2320388/…
“Thank you, you have a magical evening” ... 🤪
D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said he got a chance to speak with Suns coach Monty Williams and compare notes on what they're looking to do coming back from the extended break
Monty Williams has noticed Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton talking more “on certain reads and certain things they want to do on the floor that probably wasn’t there last year in Flagstaff.” A benefit of an extra training camp-like environment in Orlando. #Suns
Dario Saric on the #Suns’ mindset in Orlando: “This team is full of young guys. Hungry dogs, I would say, who really want to play every game, who really want to practice every day. It kind of was easy for us, like a group, to come here, try to work hard.”
We spoke with Dario Saric after Monty. He said that practice the first few days is about progressing towards full game shape but in a way that's cautious and not going too hard too fast.
That was all for today.
Monty Williams said he hopes the league will let him fish at the lake by the Yacht Club hotel.
Said there are a couple of bass in there "with his name" on it.
Monty Williams said today was the first day he was seeing people on other teams. Today he was able to walk around the lake and such. They didn't have to be in the hotel all day.
Monty is very amused by the security measures in Orlando and his special band thingy that everyone there has to have. Hard for him to keep track of all of it. He referred to the ring as a "ring thingy" as I was typing this like a true man of culture.
Monty Williams laughed when he was asked about Cam Payne speaking on their close relationship in OKC because Monty said he was very tough on Payne as a young player. Liked the way he took it back then and said it played into his talks with Jones on signing Payne.
I asked Monty how this compares to training camp in Flagstaff and that second training camp they had between the preseason and regular season.
He said he notices Book and DA are more comfortable leading now. They were learning 0.5 and other things like everyone else before.
