Mirjam Swanson: Paul George is the 10th pick among the reserves — lands on LeBron’s squad. LBJ: “The only time I’ll root for this guy or this team, because we are enemies (laughs). Nah, just making fun of it. I’m going with Paul George, PG-13, from the Los Angeles Clippers.”

Eric Walden: LeBron, by virtue of being the top vote-getter, got the first pick, and of course selected his Lakers teammate, Anthony Davis. Giannis comes back with Joel Embiid.
Eric Walden: Donovan Mitchell, on if he plans to watch the All-Star Draft: “Oh, that’s tomorrow? Ummm … yeah. Definitely. … I hate to say it and I don’t mean to sound ungrateful, but I really forget (I’m an All-Star) because I’m just really worried about what’s coming up (with the Jazz).”
Eric Walden: Donovan Mitchell, on whether he’d rather play for Team LeBron or Team Giannis: “I’d rather just play with Rudy. I don’t mean to sound corny when I say it, but seriously, I think it’d be cool for us to enjoy that moment together.”
Marc J. Spears: Captains LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo will draft the #NBA All-Star Game rosters from the pool of players voted as starters and reserves in each conference. They will draft without regard for a player’s conference or position. TNT reveals the team rosters on Feb. 6.
Malika Andrews: Giannis said he found out he was named an All Star captain for the second time from the coaching staff. He said his approach is the same as last year: pick guys that will play hard. “And obviously, pick my teammates Khris (Middleton) and Bledsoe when they make the All Star team.”
Mike Trudell: LeBron on All-Star Draft: “I knew who I was going with my 1st and 2nd pick, cause (Giannis had) already stated he was going Steph, so I knew I was going w/KD and Ky. I got shuffled a little bit after he picked Embiid; I had to kind of change my thing around, but I like my team.”

Selecting first in that round will be James, Wade’s championship Miami Heat teammate in 2012 and ’13. Suffice it to say, Wade is not exactly on pins and needles. “He better pick me,” Wade said as the Heat turned their attention to Saturday night’s game against the Indiana Pacers at AmericanAirlines Arena. “I’m not even going to play. He better pick me. I’m not going to play this game.”
Ben Golliver: Doc Rivers on All-Star draft & Lou Williams 2018 snub: “Last year they were cowards & this year they’re doing it live so we know who gets picked. Next step is coaches reveal their vote. I have too many coaches saying they voted for my guy; if that was true then he’d be on team.”
Marc J. Spears: The NBA says the 2019 NBA All-Star Draft will be televised by TNT on Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. ET. The team rosters will be revealed during a NBA All-Star Draft Show.
The National Basketball Association and the N.B.A. Players Association have agreed to televise the draft in which two captains will select their squads for the 2019 All-Star Game in Charlotte, according to two people familiar with the plans.
A firm date for the televised draft has not yet been established, but Jan. 30 or Jan. 31 have emerged as two potential targets for a TNT broadcast, according to the people, who were not authorized to discuss the plans publicly. The schedule availability of the two captains, once they are identified through fan balloting, is among the variables needed to lock in the broadcast specifics.

Mike James to Brooklyn

Chema de Lucas: Mike James will play with the Brooklyn Nets until the end of the season. Immediate incorporation. Interest in the CSKA player for the franchise was anticipated by @Eurohoopsnet.
Reigning EuroLeague scoring champion Mike James has emerged as a candidate to sign with the Brooklyn Nets, Eurohoops has learned via a source. Hasheem Thabeet is looking to make an NBA comeback, his agent Jerry Dianis told me on Saturday. The 7’3″ big-man just won MVP honors while playing in Taiwan for the Hsinchu JKO Lioneers. “Bottom line Hasheem Thabeet was given a opportunity, and he killed it,” Dianis told me. “MVP performance with career highs in points, rebounds, minutes played, assists and steals. Thabeet averaged 18.3 points, 14.3 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game.
“With the recent conclusion of his season in Taiwan, Hasheem is an unrestricted free agent,” Dianis added. “He is in the best shape of his life as certified by his recent MVP performance. Hasheem looks forward to helping an NBA team that needs his athleticism and size off the bench. I have no doubt Hasheem will be inundated with worldwide opportunities.”
Anthony Davis returning against the Mavericks?

Marc Stein: The Lakers continue to list Anthony Davis as out for Monday’s home date with Utah. So Davis’ return to the lineup likely comes Thursday or Saturday in Dallas against a Mavs team that has lost four straight at home … including tonight after the Kings had lost nine in a row. pic.twitter.com/76TPnvFZ7w
Dave McMenamin: The Lakers have officially ruled out Anthony Davis on Monday vs. UTA, which means his return will likely come on the road with the Lakers having an upcoming four-game trip starting Thursday in Dallas.

Tim MacMahon: Luka Doncic says energy is an issue for the slumping Mavs. How do you fix that? “I don’t know, but all I know is it’s got to start with me,” he said. “I’ve got to do way better, keeping guys motivated. It starts with me.”
