Blossomgame, 24, knows the day is coming. Maybe not this season, or next, but one day Blossomgame intends to wear the NBA version of a Spurs jersey. While he waits for that moment, development is the plan. Blossomgame is the latest project the Spurs hope they can transform into a serviceable role player, or better.

“He knows he’s a Spur,” said Austin Spurs general manager Andy Birdsong. “He’s in Austin, but he’s still a Spur and that’s how we treat him.” Added Blossomgame: “I wouldn’t want to do this with any other G League team.”
Blossomgame bypassed a more lucrative deal overseas. He called the move a “no-brainer,” using the team’s history as a blueprint when deciding to stay. “My goal was always to play in the NBA,” he said. “Going overseas is something I wasn’t interested in. Given what the Spurs have done with guys in Austin as far as development, I felt it was a great place to learn. Stay a part of the program and develop day-by-day.”

Rudy Fernandez spoke to Eurohoops when the locker rooms opened to the press after the team’s celebrations and speaking about Luka Doncic, he admitted that this is expected to be his last season in Europe. “He is a special guy, we have to enjoy this year because we know”, said the two time EuroLeague champ with Real Madrid and former NBA player. “He has to play with the best players in the world, maybe in the next year we are going to miss him, but it’s normal. He is 19 years old and he deserves it”.
Nick DePaula: Great question. Luka actually has 1 more year on his existing Nike deal. Could work out great for him if he has a strong rookie year to be up for a new deal next year after establishing himself.
