Johnny O’Bryant arrived in Tel Aviv and he is eager for the upcoming season, his first in Europe, as a member of Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv. “When you look at the EuroLeague, it’s the second best league in the world and a place where really good NBA players have come from”, he said, explaining his decision. “And when Maccabi called, obviously it’s a really great franchise, and it was a no-brainer coming here and help this club win but also help myself get back to where I think I belong. I’m a really skilled player I didn’t get to really show it in the NBA, I can do passing and shooting, just bringing kinda an all-around big man to the team and a guy that can do a lot to help his team win”.

Charlotte Hornets General Manager Rich Cho announced today that the team has signed forward Johnny O’Bryant to a multi-year contract. The 6-9 Louisiana State product signed consecutive 10-day contracts with Charlotte on Feb. 24 and March 6 after becoming the D-League’s 23rd Gatorade Call-Up this season. O’Bryant has played in four games with the Hornets, averaging 4.5 points on .533 percent from the field and 2.0 rebounds in 8.5 minutes per contest. The third-year pro scored a career-high 15 points on 7-of-9 field goals in a win against Denver on March 4. He has also appeared in 25 games (all starts) for the D-League’s Northern Arizona Suns this season, owning averages of 18.4 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He was also selected as a 2017 NBA D-League All-Star‎.

That won’t be easy, with most teams having already filled out their rosters for next season. But Collier believes in his client and his client believes in him and thus they aren’t going to make a rash decision and pursue some deal overseas. “Our goal is stay in the league,’’ Collier said. “Johnny has improved in each season he’s been in the NBA and he’s still young; he just turned 23 (on June 1). We have received a lot of positive feedback, so we’re staying patient. We’ll see what happens.’’
