A year after his retirement, former CSKA Moscow forward Sammy Mejia has joined sports marketing and talent management company, Wasserman, as an agent. Mejia retired from professional basketball in 2020, after spending his last five seasons with Turkish side Tofas. A former All-EuroCup First Team member with Banvit (2015), Mejia has also played professionally for Cholet, AEL, Orlandina and G League’s Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
Pierce’s longtime agent, Jeff Schwartz, suggested Pierce apologize anyway. Schwartz worried that the video might influence Hall voters. Pierce didn’t. “Come on, I didn’t do anything illegal,” says Pierce. “These motherf—–s in the Hall of Fame, some did [cocaine], f—ing battery. What the f— did I do? I was just having a good time. All the people coming after me, half you motherf—–s do the same s—. You’re just hiding it. And you all are married while you’re doing it. I’m divorced. I’m retired. I’m having fun.” And if Hall voters had held it against him? “Listen,” says Pierce, “if I didn’t make it with this class, it would be the biggest stiff job in Hall of Fame history.”

Simmons is represented by Klutch Sports, the same group that represents Los Angeles Lakers superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and NBA great Charles Barkley feels the group is out of control. “I don’t believe that,” said Barkley. “You know how that group works. They try to trade their players to where they want to. They do it the way they want to. Anthony Davis – they had better deals from Boston for Anthony Davis, and I think maybe even New York, and they’re like, ‘No, he’s gonna go to L.A. and play with LeBron. He’s not gonna play.’ They just bully the league. At some point, a team or the league got to stand up to, ‘Wait a minute. I paid your guy. You can’t bully me to trade him and me taking some trash back.’ So I’m hoping somebody in the Sixers organization got some stones.”

Michael Porter on contract extension talks: Everything is sounding great

Entering his fourth season, Porter is extension eligible until the start of the season. He said he talks to his agent Mark Bartelstein daily about updates and is encouraged where talks stand. “Everything is sounding great, in the direction that I’d like to be headed,” Porter said. “Nothing is set in stone, but everything is going smooth as far as that goes. “One thing about Mark – something probably could’ve been done already but Mark is the best in the business,” Porter added. “I told him, ‘Take your time, do your thing. I’m in no rush, I’m in grindmode. I’m not stressed about it. I’m just in the gym, and whenever you’ve got some news for me, hit me up.’”
