Caleb Love was mainly a shooting guard in high school, and it shows. Does that mean he’ll never be an NBA-caliber point? Not at all. But point guard is the toughest position for a freshman to pick up in Williams’ system, and between that and Love’s shortcomings, he still has a long way to go. He has shown flashes of shot-making, shot-creating and elite defense. Now he needs to do all that at once, and much more consistently. There is still a chance Love declares — based on what I’ve heard, it’s not out of the picture — but he’d be much better served coming back and ironing out the kinks.
