CSKA Moscow Rumors
Mike James had six points and two steals Saturday — and one more bit of shade thrown at him by his CSKA Moscow coach. Dimitris Itoudis told Eurohoops.net that the call to let James leave for the NBA wasn’t just about one thing — like their personal altercation — but issues witnessed daily, and by the entire staff. “If somebody isn’t feeling that he belongs there, then he’s not going to belong there,” Itoudis said when asked about James. “The certain changes that we did are based on what we witnessed daily. All coaches.”
Afterward, the 30-year-old guard explained his departure from EuroLeague power CSKA Moscow last month after he was suspended indefinitely over an altercation with coach Dimitris Itoudis. “Some things happened in my personal life and I felt like stuff didn’t go how I thought somebody should handle my situations,” said James, who previously was suspended by the club in January. “We had a little clash there. Not really as a basketball player did I have a clash with Itoudis, more as an individual. As two men we had clashes, not really on the basketball court.”
Marc Stein: The Nets are in advanced talks to sign the former Phoenix and New Orleans guard Mike James, league sources say, with a deal possible as early as Tuesday. After a tumultuous season with CSKA Moscow, James was recently released from his CSKA contract to pursue NBA opportunities.
