Dean Cooper Rumors
The Chicago Bulls have parted ways with assistant coaches Dean Cooper, Nate Loenser, Roy Rogers and Karen Stack Umlauf. “I would like to thank Dean, Nate, Roy and Karen for their contributions and dedication to our organization. Decisions like these are never easy, and I wish them well in the future,” said Executive Vice President – Basketball Operations Arturas Karnisovas. “I appreciate the time that I was able to spend with Dean, Nate, Roy and Karen. I really want to thank all of them for their service and commitment to the Chicago Bulls,” said Head Coach Billy Donovan. “This is the tough side to our business, and I wish all of them the best moving forward.”
Billy Donovan called multiple assistant coaches Monday morning and informed them they won’t serve on his first staff as Bulls coach, sources told NBC Sports Chicago. Gone — at least — are Roy Rogers, Dean Cooper and Nate Loenser, sources confirmed. The Bulls just picked up an option for the 2020-21 season on Loenser’s contract, and Rogers had just finished the first of a three-year deal. Ownership continues to give the green light to the new regime to make changes, no matter the cost.
Boylen is trying to add one more assistant, sources said. Pete Myers, Karen Stack-Umlauf and Nate Loenser are expected to remain on staff, though their responsibilities may change. Dean Cooper, whom Boylen brought in last season, isn’t expected to return.
