If former Kentucky All-American Tony Delk’s judgment is correct, would-be UK standout EJ Montgomery will forgo college and remain in this year’s NBA Draft. “I think he’s staying in,” Delk said of Montgomery on Friday night. “Just from what I’ve been hearing. He’s already had a couple workouts with teams. So I guess he’s got some good reports from GMs.”
Wednesday, EJ Montgomery worked out for the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs own the rights to the Nos. 19, 29 and 49 picks in this year’s draft.
Joining Dotson and Grimes at the Bucks’ workout were EJ Montgomery of Kentucky and Dererk Pardon of Northwestern. Montgomery, a 6-10 power forward, was also a five-star recruit coming out of high school and ranked 11th in the country by Rivals, played in each of Kentucky’s 37 games and started 10 of them.
A fourth UK player, EJ Montgomery, has reportedly accepted an invitation to participate in the Combine and plans to play in the five-on-five games. There’s no word yet on an invitation for Kentucky forward Reid Travis, who has exhausted his collegiate eligibility.
Kentucky men’s basketball freshman forward EJ Montgomery announced Friday that he plans to submit his name for the 2019 NBA Draft. Under new NCAA rules, Montgomery can sign with an NCAA-certified agent, receive feedback and still return to school.
