Fenerbahce Ulker Rumors
Earlier today, Sacramento Kings assistant coach Igor Kokoskov departed Orlando to begin his next chapter as the new head coach of the EuroLeague’s Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul. “I’d like to congratulate Igor on his promotion to head coach of Fenerbahce and thank him for his dedicated time with the Kings,” said Sacramento Kings head coach Luke Walton. “He has been a valuable member of my coaching staff and his natural ability to guide our players will continue to inspire the team as we move forward in Orlando. We wish him all the best.”
Emiliano Carchia: Nicolò Melli said that two summers ago turned down a two-year, $8 million offer from the Hawks to sign, for less money, for Fenerbahce. He signed a 2yrs, $8M contract this summer with New Orleans Pelicans “Never made choices based only on salary” Melli told Resto del Carlino
“At 11pm my agent Matteo Comellini sent me a message with the proposal made by the Pelicans. I felt a strong vibration. The same I had two years ago the first time I spoke with coach Obradovic” Melli said. “I got the same proposal two summers ago from the Atlanta Hawks but I decided to sign with Fenerbahce for less money. My choices never depended on salary and the same happened this summer” Melli said.
Fenerbahce Beko forward Luigi Datome has played both in Europe and NBA during his 12-year-long career so far. He is currently playing under coach Zeljko Obradovic who is regarded as one of, if not the best, European coach of all times and Datome believes Obradovic is more than ready for the NBA if he wishes to do it: “Yes! Absolutely, absolutely. It’s a different basketball, okay, but it’s not just about his talent as a coach. He is a student of the game. He can’t stop watching basketball. If he wanted to go to the NBA, he couldn’t use the same resources he has here. It is a decision that exclusively belongs to him but his knowledge and intelligence are brilliant. I had some coaches there who were worse than Obradovic by far”, he told NBA Spain.
Jonas Miklovas: Talked to Jan Vesely, currently Euroleague PIR leader (15 PPG, 5,4 RPG, 2,8 APG, 1,7 SPG, 85% FTs (!) and 21,8 PIR) about his thoughts of returning to NBA. “I’ve never closed the door on NBA. If the opportunity is right, I will consider it. But now my focus is on the team, Fener” About being called a “bust” in US: “That’s their opinion. I went there young and that was the lockout year, that might have been one of the problems. It was not easy. I have nothing to prove. I’m proving that I can play basketball, I’m doing it here”.
