Ben Rohrbach: For clarity: The NBA will review J.R. Smith’s shove of Al Horford last night, because they review all flagrant fouls. Smith has twice been suspended for past playoff incidents involving the Celtics, elbowing Jason Terry in 2013 and injuring Jae Crowder in 2015.

Lue said he made the decision a couple days ago and that Smith was fine with the plan. “Tested it out. It’s really been hard since LeBron’s been out, just something we’re going to do to start the season and we’ll see how it works,” Lue said.
Asked how Smith took the news, Lue said, “He was fine. It’s tough, you’ve been in a position where you went to three straight Finals and you’ve been the starting 2 guard. It’s about sacrifice. And if you want to win … J.R. was great about it. He’ll have a different role right now and we’ll see how it works.”
Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith stood a few feet behind his teammates for the national anthem prior to the team’s scrimmage Monday night at The Q. The reason, he said, was because “I don’t feel like the flag represents what it’s supposed to at this point.
