Amile Jefferson joins Duke as director of player development

Former Duke men’s basketball captain Amile Jefferson has been added to the staff as the team’s director of player development. “This is an honor to be back at Duke and I’m so grateful to Coach Krzyzewski for considering me for this opportunity,” said Jefferson. “I’d also like to thank Coach Scheyer for his help through the process and look forward to his leadership in the future.”

JJ Redick, who at one time was a controversial Duke player, opened his podcast posted on Monday with a discussion about the allegations of Grayson Allen being a dirty player. He questioned why there’s always someone that we as a whole insist on disliking on the Blue Devils every year, pointing out for decades that there has been a line of players that people boo perhaps harder than others including Greg Paulus, Steve Wojchiechowski, Chris Collins, Mike Dunleavy, Jon Scheyer and even himself:
Two weeks back we spoke of Heat 2010 summer hopeful Jon Scheyer landing with Israeli League and EuroLeague force Maccabi Tel Aviv. A respected NBA agent familiar with such transactions said the deal for the former Duke sharpshooter is at $180,000 for the first season and $250,000 for the second, which falls below what an American import would be expected to earn in such a situation. “It’s much lower than anyone expected, considering he is Jewish,” the agent said, noting Scheyer therefore does not technically take up one of the team’s designated import slots. The agent added, “The deal is being panned by those in the business in Israel.”
