Jonathan Kuminga Rumors
A league source said that, in addition to Giddey, the Warriors would consider Connecticut guard James Bouknight, G League Ignite forward Jonathan Kuminga and perhaps one or two others at No. 7. Long a popular choice for the Warriors in mock drafts, Baylor guard Davion Mitchell likely won’t be Golden State’s pick because of concerns he doesn’t have enough upside to warrant a top-10 selection.
League sources don’t expect Davion Mitchell to be the selection here. Giddey is believed around the league to be one of the Warriors’ main targets, though Jonathan Kuminga and Keon Johnson, among others, are in the conversation. It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls if Giddey is indeed the pick, especially considering Memphis is reportedly into him at no. 10. For the Warriors, he could provide size and playmaking ability, valuable skills in an offense that shares the ball.
Kevin O’Connor: Sources: The Grizzlies are interested in moving up again after acquiring the 10th pick from the Pelicans. Jonathan Kuminga or James Bouknight are potential targets for Memphis with another trade-up. Going live on @SpotifyGrnroom to discuss this and more about the 2021 NBA Draft:
League sources say Kuminga has struggled to gain traction during the predraft process, and rival teams continue to speculate as to how far he might slip. With three days to go, Kuminga has become the biggest wild card in the draft.
