Julius Erving Rumors

Making kids happy is what inspires O’Neal, especially when he has the opportunity to encourage those feeling down. He can relate. As a child, that was him. “The same way (they’re) feeling now at 9 and 10 years old, I was the same way,” he said. “But look at me now.” He credits basketball legend Julius Erving with planting the seed of helping others. O’Neal met Dr. J as a child. He called him his “portal” to becoming who he is today.
“I got to physically see him live and at work,” he said. “I got to physically touch him and shake his hand. He was so nice and courteous. “That was the first thing I said: If and when I become a superstar, I want to be just like him.” He even received an autographed Dr. J basketball one year for Christmas, which he said was the “spark” he needed to carry him through tough times.
