Mike Conley Rumors
“I think we should have five All-Stars,” Conley said. “I think this year, honestly, I’m playing the best basketball of my entire career. Being 33 years old, I’ve never had the opportunity to play in the game. I’ve had the door shut so many times. But, it’s been so much fun being a part of a team like this that is so unique. We play so unselfishly, and we have a defensive mindset and a physical mentality. “To do that, you have to have nine or 10 guys that all make plays for each other and are all unselfish. It’s funny because we have been so versatile this season that I have struggled to figure out how to scout us. I never had to think about that for one of my teams.”
“It was a difficult time overall,” Conley said. “Moving my family out here, learning a new area for the first time in forever. Utah Jazz fans are very passionate, and they love their team and they love success. I was supposed to be a part of that. I wanted to show the people what I could do. “So to start the way I did, not doing anything well, not being able to hit a shot, that wasn’t me. And then when the injury came, I wasn’t able to show what I could do. For a while, it felt like anything I did was going to be bad. It was tough. I wasn’t used to negative criticism. I felt like I let the people down.”
They have become one of the best backcourts in the league this season because the feel is there. Staggering the minutes has been a significant help. It gives them each time on the floor where they are the undisputed captain. It gives them space. But, they have played so much better together this season. “The biggest thing has been we both understand and can read each other,” Mitchell said. “Mike always has a feel for how defenses are guarding me and for what’s needed, and vice versa. Sometimes, I know that I need to defer to Mike, and sometimes I’m like I got it. It’s a trust and a bond that we have always had in each other.”
Eric Walden: Mike Conley discussing his hamstring injury, said he mentioned in the last Charlotte game that it had tightened up a bit and wanted to get it stretched, but “as soon as I said ‘hamstring,’ they took me out.” Said overall it was very mild, far less problematic than last year’s.
