Ray Spalding Rumors
Jonathan Feigen: Rockets guards Eric Gordon (right groin strain) and Victor Oladipo (right foot strain) listed as doubtful. Forward P.J. Tucker (left thigh bruise) is questionable. Christian Wood (sprained right ankle) and Ray Spalding (right Achilles injury) are out.
The Houston Rockets today announced they have called up center Ray Spalding from their NBA G League affiliate, Rio Grande Valley, and signed him to a two-way contract. In two games for the Vipers this season, Spalding (6-10, 225) averaged 18.5 points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.50 blocks while shooting 60.0% from the floor. He was with the Rockets during the 2019 preseason prior to joining Rio Grande Valley. In a related move, the Rockets have waived guard Brodric Thomas.
Alykhan Bijani: With the #Rockets signing Ray Spalding to a two-way contract, Houston will waive Brodric Thomas, league sources tell me and @Kelly Iko
Adrian Wojnarowski: Forward Ray Spalding is signing a two-way deal with the Houston Rockets, sources tell ESPN.
The Hornets’ other two free agents-to-be — Willy Hernangomez and Dwayne Bacon — are participating. Both of the Hornets’ players on two-way contracts — Kobi Simmons and Ray Spalding — are in the practices. So are several players from last season’s Greensboro Swarm: Charlottean Trey Phills, former North Carolina guard Joel Berry, K.J. McDaniels, Jeff Roberson and Demajeo Wiggins.
