Zion Williamson Rumors
Chris Haynes: Duke freshman Zion Williamson announces on Instagram that he is declaring for the 2019 NBA Draft.
Thirty-four years since New York Knicks great Dave DeBusschere pumped his fist on a podium after landing the No. 1 pick to select future Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing, Ewing will now represent the franchise at the NBA draft lottery next month for a chance to draft Duke phenom Zion Williamson, league sources told ESPN.
Adam Zagoria: Knicks coach David Fizdale tells @RealMichaelKay he is not trying to get his hopes up for Zion. “I’m really prepared for whoever we get. I just know that we’re going to get a young talent who’s going to add to the pot and we’ll keep building from there.”
For a time last year, when he was a senior at Spartanburg Day High in South Carolina, Zion Williamson’s weight crept over 300 pounds while he was recovering from a bruised left foot, multiple NBA sources told The Athletic. There was also a thumb injury over the summer, and then the scary knee buckle everybody saw at Duke — when his Nike shoe exploded as the 6-7, 285-pound basketball unicorn slipped while changing directions with his dribble in a marquee game against North Carolina.
